NORTH ROWAN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC.
PO BOX 111
SPENCER, NORTH CAROLINA 28159
March 16, 2009
Fellow Cavaliers:
Difficult choices must be made during difficult times. Increasing inflation rates coupled with a decline in economic activity make the choices of where and how to give truly difficult. It is especially difficult for those of us who care deeply about North Rowan High School. The 2009 Membership drive is underway, and I just noticed that you registered on the NRAA website in 2008, but you are not a member of the North Rowan Alumni Association.
Last year over 250 graduates became Charter Members of the NRAA. Their gift last year was most encouraging and enabled the NRAA to begin building a foundation for long-term support of our ideals. But our scholarship awards, establishment of our website, and staging of the 50th Anniversary Gala in 2008 were only the beginning. In 2009 the NRAA is committed to giving a $6000 scholarship to a graduating senior. Preliminary plans are being made to host an Alumni Bar-B-Q dinner prior to the Homecoming Game at North Rowan. And your association will continue to seek ways to improve North Rowan’s standing in the community.
The association needs your financial support to continue it programs. Our tradition of excellence and responsibility in supporting North Rowan High is ours to improve upon or to let fade away. As president of the NRAA, I feel a special and personal responsibility to future generations of students. It is through past and continuing efforts of alumni like you that we can meet the hopes, dreams and expectations of North Rowan graduates who want to experience the many facets of achieving of earning a college degree: a sense of accomplishment of a challenging goal, a pride of academic proficiency,20a feeling of joy and pleasure in both work and play, a love of growing and learning, and the acceptance by their college community. These qualities, though particularly intangible, can be realized only in a climate of financial stability.
Viewed this way, perhaps our choices for giving are not too difficult. Please start your membership today. It will help to continue to build a foundation that will maintain our goals of excellence for North Rowan and assure its continuation for the benefits of the North Rowan students, faculty and community. Annual dues are only $10.00, a nd a donation of $15.00 or more will earn you an Alumni Association magnetic emblem that you can display to show your Cavalier pride. Furthermore, take 10 minutes and ask one or more of your classmates or fellow alumni who is not a member to join with you. Building a foundation of members today will ensure our success for the future. And remember that your contribution is fully tax-deductible – the NRAA, Inc. is a 501(c)3 corporation.
Continue to visit www.nrhscavaliers.com, and send in your membership and donation today. You may use PAYPAL, safe, secure and conveniently located on the web site for your donation. Thank you again for your consideration, and for your support of the programs of the North Rowan Alumni Association.
Sincerely, Robin Butler, President
North Rowan Alumni Association, Inc.
