Robert Johnsen Civics and Economics
Robert Johnsen is new to North Rowan, but not to education. He makes an impact on student achievement with every opportunity in the classroom.
I'm a 2002 graduate of South Rowan. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2006 with a BA in History and 2007 with a MA is Teaching. (Go Heels!) I taught social studies in Chapel Hill for three years before moving to NRHS. During that time I married my wife of three years. I enjoy Tar Heel sports, Jimmy Stewart movies, and collecting more books that I could ever possibly read. Coming from Rowan County, I understood the challenges that many students in this area face. My wife and I decided to move here in part to be close to family and in part to make a difference in this community. I have given that goal my best effort this school year and will continue to do so for years to come. I love my students and the staff at NRHS. I am a Cavalier!

From Mr. Goodine: I am from Seneca, SC and graduated from Catawba College in 91 with a degree in Psychology. I have been married for 14 years to Bridgette Campbell. We have two boys, Javin age 11 and Jordan, age 9. Both attend school in the North Rowan district. What I like about North Rowan is being able to work in a very diverse environment. The real world is not just black or white. It is a multitude of people with different ethnic, religious, and economic backggrounds that make-up our community. Being able to experience this is quite an honor. You have two communities (East Spencer and Spencer) that have intergrated to form one. That is quite an accomplishment. I also love the people in the North Rowan community. Again thank you so much for the honor of being selected February staff of the month.

What I like most about working at NRHS: I feel the people in this building are more like a family compared to many work enviroments that I have been involved with. Teachers, administrators, and students all work together and support each other. I also love the opportunity to work with all the technology that NR has been granted. Before teaching I worked in a chemistry lab and was surrounded by technology. I know that when our students venture forward in their careers they will never be without it, so being able to introduce them to it now is fantastic!
